Ghana enemy Luis Suarez's World Cup for Uruguay in doubt after knee injury

Uruguay have suffered a huge blow in the build-up to their World Cup campaign after Luis Suárez suffered a knee injury in training.

Suárez is expected to undergo surgery in Uruguay today on damage to his meniscus. Recovery from the operation usually takes between four and six weeks but Uruguay are hopeful he will play some part at the World Cup in Brazil.

But it is expected that the Liverpool striker will miss Uruguay's Group D match against Costa Rica on 14 June, with his place against England and Italy also in doubt.

The 27-year-old Liverpool striker had an MRI scan on Wednesday which revealed damage to the meniscus in the knee, with the team doctor deciding surgery was necessary. Liverpool, meanwhile, are awaiting an update from their own medical staff.

Suárez was in excellent form for Liverpool in the Premier League this season, scoring 31 goals, and was named the PFA and Football Writers' player of the year.

Idiot. He is definitely our enemy. Do you why he punched the ball with his hands? There is a cannotation behind it. "No way an african team should beat them". Has he ever done that to any white team? He is definitely our no. 1 enemy.

Wrong. It wasn't a split second decision. It was meditated and deliberate. Didn't you see the picture of it? Two players, including Suarez, were trying to stop the ball with their hands at the same time. The picture shows clearly that they had discussed what they should do.

He is not our enemy he did what he had to do and we were awarded a pk if we had scored all would have been forgotten and we wouldn't be having this discussion. We cannot blame him for us not scoring a pk with the last kick of the game. The rules are what they are and we have to take responsibility for not taking advantage. I bet if the roles were reversed and one of our players did the same thing with the same outcome we would hail him as a hero. I know I would same with Henry's hand ball that sent France to the 2010 worldcup he was a hero for his nation and vilified by his opponents.
