Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi pledges never to interfere in the selection of players into any of the national teams.
A quota system for the inclusion of locally-based players is being proposed for especially the senior national team, the Black Stars which has been thoroughly dominated by foreign-based players in recent years.
But Nyantakyi says his only interest is the selection of the best available materials regardless of where they play their football.
ââ¬ÅI will never propose such a thing to any coach,â⬠he said.
ââ¬ÅIn sometime past the Black Stars was dominated by only Hearts of Oak players but people easily tend to forget this.
ââ¬ÅI donââ¬â¢t think where a player plays his football should be factored in selection of players but rather the best available materials at the coaches disposal.ââ¬
No outfield local player made it to the final 23-man squad that represented Ghana at the recently ended Nations Cup where the Black Stars placed fourth.
Only goalkeepers; Daniel Agyei and Ernest Sowah who play for Ghanaian topflight teams Liberty Professionals and Berekum Chelsea respectively were taken along.
