Ghana FA considering action against SA U-20 coach Mashaba

The Ghana FA is considering petitioning the South Africa FA over comments made by their U-20 coach Shakes Mashaba.

Mashaba has accused Ghana of age-cheating following their elimination at the hands of the Black Starlets from qualifying to next year’s Africa U-17 Championships in Morocco.

The Ghana FA is however not taking Mashaba’s claim lightly and say they are examining the contents of his statement before officially writing to their South Africa counterparts.

“We have heard what he (Mashaba) has said and we are examining the contents,” Communications Director of the GFA Ibrahim Sannie-Daara told Angel FM.

“After which we will send a formal complaint to the South African Association if necessary.

“We believe Mashaba’s comments has no basis and that he is trying to shift blame rather than take responsibility for his failure.

“We have satisfied all the MRI requirements from CAF for this competition and all our players have been duly certified as U-17 players.

“So I don’t know how Mashaba can substantiate this claim which is clearly palpably false.”

A similar situation developed with the Ghana U-20 Women’s team when they eliminated South Africa in the World Cup qualifiers earlier this year.
