Ghana FA denies Kwesi Appiah's appointment as Black Stars coach

The Ghana FA has been forced to deny widespread media reports claiming Kwesi Appiah has been re-engaged as Black Stars coach.

There have been a groundswell of support for the Sudan-based trainer to return as the national team coach following the departure of Avram Grant.

Appiah, who currently handles Khartoum SC, has slapped in his CV to be considered for the post.

There are multiple and mounting reports suggesting the job has been given to him and will be announced as the new man in the coming days.

The Ghana FA has insisted it will not buckle under expectation to name Grant's successor and will do due diligence in arriving at the decision.

But Appiah, a former Black Stars great, features prominently in the media with suspicion the media are eager to force him on the Ghana FA.

And FA spokesman Ibrahim Saanie Daara has insisted no decision has been reached regarding the new man expected to take charge of the team.

"There is no shred of truth in those reports. The FA has not taken any decision regarding the direction of the Black Stars," he told GHANAsoccernet.com

"Coaches were asked to apply and several of them have slapped in their CV's. Its now time for the selection committee to do their work.

"They have not even met to deliberate on the names that have come up and so these reports are worrying.

"Names are expected to be thrown out naturally by the media, but its' not true the FA has settled on Kwesi Appiah or any other coach.

"There are several stages in the appointment process and so I will plead with Ghanaian to be patient."

Over 70 coaches, largely expatriates have applied for the job which became vacant following the exit of the former Chelsea manager.
