The Ghana FA has pledged its support to the maiden National Players Awards.

The annual initiative seeks to recognize and honor the contribution of individuals who donned the jersey of the various national teams with distinction.

The awards feeds into the Ghana FA’s policy of recognizing contributions made by past players in the growth and development of Ghana football, hence the support for the initiative.

“We believe that if such an awards ceremony is organized, it even motivates the current crop to give off their best because they know they will be acknowledged,” Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi said at the ceremony’s launch on Saturday.

“Therefore I would like to congratulate the organizers for this initiative and I hope this event will not become a nine day wonder but rather become a regular feature in Ghana football.

“We (the Ghana FA) will support this initiative to ensure it succeeds for the benefit of all.”

The awards proper takes place on June 22 at the State Banquet Hall in Accra.
