Ghana FA Executive Committee Member Randy Abbey is in support of the decision to shift the crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Egypt to a Tuesday.
Several concerns have been raised after the Ghana FAÃ decided to shift the first leg match of the playoffs from its original October 13 date to October 15.
Many believe playing the crucial game on a working day like Tuesday will deprive many from the working class especially to those living outside Kumasi â⬓ the match venue â⬓ the opportunity to travel to support the team.
The association has argued their decision is to afford coach Akwasi Appiah more time to prepare Black Stars team before facing the record African Cup winners.
This reasoning is one shared by Abbey who doubles as the Appointmentââ¬â¢s Committee chairman of the Ghana FA.
ââ¬ÅIt is a very convenient and sensible thing to do; there was no restriction from FIFA that we have to play on Sunday so why not take advantage of the dates they have given us?â⬠he told Metro FM.
ââ¬ÅIdeally we play our matches on Sundays because it is convenient for almost everyone but donââ¬â¢t forget we played on a Friday the last time and the stadium was full where people even struggled to get seats.
ââ¬ÅIt is not something that will be done regularly to deliberately inconvenience the fans but we must ensure our preparation is much better to put our team in much better position to face Egypt.ââ¬
The Black Stars will now face Egypt on the final FIFA approved dates for the World Cup qualifying playoffs.
The match will kick off at 16:00 GMT at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on October 15.
