There is a huge sigh of relief from members of the Ghana FA following Tuesday’s Ordinary Congress session which ushers in the commencement of the 2014/15 football season.

Congress had been delayed due to an injunction placed on it by relegated Ghana Premier League club King Faisal.

The Kumasi-based club are in court challenging the basis for their relegation.

Lawyers of the GFA however managed to get the injunction lifted for Congress to go on and the football season started as it continues to pursue the court case.

Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi says he is mightily relieved after a difficult three-month delay.

“I am very much relieved that this Congress was held without any hitches to usher in the new football season,” he said.

“We have been very worried for the past three months over a legal tussle.

“It had delayed our football calendar but now we can go ahead of commence our competitions now that Congress has been held.”

The GFA got the injunction removed by an Accra Human Rights Court on condition it will reinstate King Faisal in the Ghana Premier League once they are successful in their lawsuit.
