The Ghana Football Association has called for a minute's silence at Premier League matches on Wednesday to mark the May 9 Accra Stadium disaster.

The week 25 matches are being played one day before the 12th anniversary of the worst football tragedy in Africa.

Over 126 fans perished following a stampede in one of the stands during a league derby  between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

The Ghana FA has tasked match officials including referees and match commissioners to make sure it is observed.

Last Sunday, Kotoko players laid a wreath at the stadium before their league match against Hearts of Oak which ended 1-1.
