Ghana FA president Nyantakyi rubbishes Kwarasey's World Cup selection claims

Adam Kwarasey claims he was dropped for non footballing reasons

Ghana FA has rubbished claims by goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey that he was axed from the Black Stars post at the World Cup for non-footballing reasons at the last minute.

GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi hit back at the Norway-based goalkeeper claiming he is peddling falsehood after the Black Stars disastrous campaign in Brazil.

The Stromgodset goalkeeper was Ghana’s first choice in their opening game at the World Cup but was axed for the next two games and replaced with Fatau Dauda but Kwarasey implied he was left out for other reasons apart from performance.

"We had a match meeting four or five hours before the game. At that meeting I was in the team. Then it was a little bit back and forward. And suddenly I was out,” he told Norwegian news outlet Verdens Gang last week

"I asked why. The coach didn’t looked me in the eyes. He just looked down and said sorry. Then I understood that it probably wasn’t his choice."

But Nyantakyi has contradicted Kwarasey's claims insisting that

“We left (for the stadium) two hours before the game, throughout the training, he may have gotten the impression he was going to be in post but he was told that he was not going to be in post," Nyantakyi told a local radio station.

“So I saw him talking to the psychologist of the team and all that. But for me it is the coach that determines who plays or not, so if he is peddling all these stories then I’m sorry because they are factually incorrect.”

Kwarasey blamed the country football authorities for the plenitude of confusion which caused their early elimination.

The players boycotted training in the build up to their final Group G match against Portugal because of unpaid appearance fees.

It took the intervention of Ghana president John Mahama before the players decided to board a flight to Brasilia, the match venue, from their camp base in Maceio.

@b4world, it shocks me how much hate some Ghanaians have towards the lighter ones 'mullatos', I know deep in your heart you wanted to be born abroad like they have but that didn't happened so now the only thing you do is curse them and hope they will fail, feel sorry for you

The whole Black Star technical team is a bunch of incompetent and I will bet my last pesewa that with the same technical team in charge we would failed again. Afcon 2015 would be another disastrous tournament for Ghana. Any one around can mark my words.

Honestly I think soo. If Fatau Duada is a number 1 keeper then I believe he is not competent. This is a Keeper who is sitting on a bench for a South African club How can he be da number 1 for Gh.

The truth is abhorrhed. It is sad. Every where in Ghana and Africa, merit for a job is disregarded and 'who-you-know' comes in. As a consequemce Ghana and Africa are forever under utilising their human resources. So we all end up travelling overseas to work for the white man in whose country merit is regarded and 'who-you-know' does not stand in a job interview. If we dig deeper we may even discover that this Goal keepers training called Nassam Yakubu has no qualification for the job. We do our things 'just like that', without formulae, 'obia betumi ay3' and we wonder why we will never win over the whites. It is for this same reason Africa has all the raw materials needed for development and yet we are the poorest and most disrespected. We don't use Formulae in Africa. So Kwarasey please this is Ghana for you so please when you come just understand and do your personal best and leave the rest to Onyankopon (God). This is my last time commenting on this site. I am sad for Ghana and Africa. Africa is cursed! some leftover Pito I removed from the fridge is getting hot so bye bye. Adieu.

Please fellow comrades, let’s start organizing ourselves to kick against this greedy bastards. Kwasi Appiah will never succeed as a coach of our dear Black Stars and Nyantekyi we must force to resign. The boss goes, his coach too will go.

Mr. so called president, what is the difference between what you just said and that of Kwarasey's? From all indications, he Kwarasey has ever not been Appiah's choice. We looking from outside have seen this long ago. I am not surprised hearing this. There was no need calling him to waste his time since he had his anointed ones. Give us a break.

Pito l agree with you to an extend but mind you whom you know is everywhere not just in Ghana. The problem is in Africa it is done to the stupid extreme whilest in the west it is done with sense and I am talking to you as someone born and bred in Europe . Again it will be appropriate for us not to accept white colour and black colour syndrome because in reality you know there is nothing like white skin colour. My skin colour is brown not black. When I read comment where some of our brothers talks acceptedly about White man and black man it makes me feel like eating my head. Over all I share what you mean bruv.

This FA president is not as intelligent as his law degree will seem to indicate! You should be the last person to single out players before a report is out! And to rebuff Kwarassey's point only by saying you saw him talking to the psychologist when the player indicates that he confronted the coach directly, is not very intelligent! The point against AA has been his inconsistent selection. How can your team harmonize when they are never sure who is playing? AA insists he is still building-till when? You have a team that boast of some of the best and well tested midfielders in all of world soccer, and you mismanage them and insist you are still building! Nonsense!

Your critics say you are not able to communicate well with your defenders which probably might not be your fault but your tone of the english language. Our players are able to express themselves well in Ga or Twi . Others have also said that despite your ability of almost always making wonderful saves the BS mostly goes ahead to lose those games. They might be talking about your lack of luck in games. Just keep on working hard on those weaknesses and i am sure you will one day get there. Never give up and start saying things that will later come back to haunt.

This argument about Kwarasey not being able to communicate with the defenders in the local language is neither here nor there. All our defenders are foreign based. Do their goalkeepers at their various clubs communicate with them in a a ghanaian language? Dont they all grant interviews in English.?
