The Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential elections will be held next month.

The election will be held on 28 April in Accra as so far just two contestants have expressed interest in unseating Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The nominations will be filled from 21-25 March to allow the contestants to campaign effectively.

There were uncertainties over the date for the election but after an the GFA’s executive council meeting a date for the election was agreed.

Neil Armstrong and Vincent Sowah Odotei have expressed their interested in challenging Nyantakyi for the coveted post.

But they will face an uphill struggle against the candidate who recently swept aside Issa Hayatou’s candidate to win a Caf Executive Committee seat.

Nyantakyi will be campaigning on his record as the GFA boss having steered the country to its first two World Cup appearances where they excelled.

He was also in charge when Ghana won Africa’s first U20 World title while financially the GFA has done tremendously well with massive sponsorship for the league and the country’s national teams.

Armstrong , who is a Fifa marketing consultant, says he wants to market the game properly while Odotei’s message has been hinged on alleged corruption in the game.

The elections for the Regional FAs, Premier League clubs and Division One League representatives, who are fighting for places on the executive committee, will be held on 19 May and 15 June.
