Ghana FA rubbishes World Cup squad claims

Ghana Football Association (GFA) has rejected a report claiming to be the Black Stars’ provisional World Cup list for the tournament in South Africa in June.

A 30-man squad released by ESPNSoccernet, an American media outfit, claimed that it was coach Milovan Rajevac's provisional list.

Surprisingly, key players like Laryea Kingston, Eric Addo and AC Milan striker Dominic Adiyiah were left in the squad claiming to have emanated from German magazine Kicker.

The vice-president Fred Pappoe says the coach has not even finished with evaluating all the players available.

The hard-working Pappoe, who is also the chairman of the Black Stars says they have up to 11 May to release their provisional list.

"The squad being bandied about is absolutely not our squad list," Pappoe said.

"Our coach is still looking at the players and will have to thoroughly observe all the players before we make the squad public.

"We have up till 11 May according to Fifa, to release a squad of up to 30 players. We will release the squad before that deadline."

Rajevac is expected to arrive in Ghana early next week and will hold several meetings with the Ghana Football Association before he releases his provisional squad.

Ghana will play Serbian, Australia and Germany at the tournament which starts on 11 June.
