Ghana FA to blame for Kevin-Prince Boateng's retirement - Jordan Ayew

Jordan Ayew has astonishingly hinted the Ghana FA is responsible for the premature retirement of Kevin-Prince Boateng from the Black Stars.

The AC Milan star shocked the whole world last year by announcing his decision to quit the Black Stars after helping the side to a quarter final finish at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

There have been reports of a perceived rift between the 25-year-old and then Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic leading to his retirement.

But Boateng made mention of nothing of the sort when officially notifying the Ghana FA of his decision – rather citing his inability to cope with the rigorousness of playing for both club and country.

In a surprising twist to the whole Boateng saga however, Jordan who was not included in the 26-man squad for the 2013 Nations Cup and is close to Boateng has hinted the former Tottenham Hotspurs player quit the Black Stars over presumably harsh treatment by the Ghana FA.

“It's not so bad to not be taken with Ghana. This is Africa you know ... I did not want to go into details, but if Kevin-Prince Boateng left the team, it is not for nothing,” Ayew told French newspaper L’Equipe.

“Many things happen with the Federation of Ghana. I cannot tell you ... There are things that are not normal."

Jordan’s subdued revelation is likely to attract a further probe by the Ghana FA and the public at large who are desperate to find the real reasons why the German-born Ghanaian quit the now very attractive Black Stars team.

The 20-year-old’s revelation could also be interpreted as his parting shot to the Ghana FA over his exclusion from the provisional Black Stars squad for the 2013 Nations Cup.

The Olympique Marseille striker apart from flashes of his brilliance at the tail end of Ghana's disappointing run at the 2012 AFCON has failed to impress in a Black Stars shirt.

He was a mere passenger in Ghana's 1-0 loss to Zambia in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers and again flopped miserably in the 2-0 win over Malawi in the first leg of the ultimate 2013 Nations Cup qualifier.

It is believed for these reasons that coach Akwasi Appiah decided against taking the budding star to South Africa - but it has been a decision that has proved quite unpopular to numerous Ghana football fans.
