Ghana FA to query Avram Grant over persistent travels - report
Avram Grant

Black Stars coach, Avram Grant, appears to be heading for a collision course with his employers over his insatiable craving for extended holidays in the United Kingdom, and his latest act has compelled the Ghana Football Association to respond with a query.

According to a reliable source, the FA is to hand the former Chelsea of England manager a query to explain why he had overstayed his holidays outside the country at the time he was expected back in Accra to prepare the grounds for the national team’s next assignment.

He is to explain why he has overstayed his leave.

The decision to query Grant was prompted by the Black Stars Management Committee with the blessing of the president of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi, who could no longer put up with the Israeli coach’s continued absence from his duty post.

The Stars play Congo in an international friendly in September and continue with a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Group H qualifier away to Rwanda.

But GFA sources have revealed to the Graphic Sports that Grant, after naming his squad for the two games, was still in the United Kingdom and yet to communicate to his employers when he was returning to work.

According to the source, the coach was expected in the country two weeks ago, but had not communicated with the FA the reason for his extended stay.

By the contract he signed with the national team, Grant is enjoined to stay in the country to monitor the local league when he is not on foreign duty out of the country.

Aside that, he is expected also to organise coaching clinics for local coaches, but apart from watching the Accra Hearts of Oak-Kumasi Asante Kotoko game in Accra, the Hearts-New Edubiase United clash and another match involving Liberty, nothing concrete has so far been done by the coach per the terms of the contract, lamented the source.
