Ghana FA to revive juvenile football amid growing criticism

The Ghana FA has rolled out a plan to revive juvenile football in the country, the National Juvenile Committee chief Nii Eddie Doku has revealed.

The state of juvenile football has come under scrutiny with Ghana legend Abedi Pele the latest to paint a gloomy picture of the domestic league, claiming it’s in shambles and fears the growth of the game could choke in the country.

But the country’s juvenile football chief Nii Eddie Doku has revealed plans to revive its growth.

“We are about structuring the juvenile football league. From next season we are not going to use those cards that you used to see; we are going to use the electronic plus cards just like what the premier and the other division clubs are using. When you register for any juvenile club, you are registered straight to FIFA’s database. Nobody can poach the juvenile player, the moment they touch a colt’s player, the system will prompt you to go and see his parent club,” he told Sportscrusader.com

“We have structured the juvenile league into football districts and regional premier league. When you graduate from the football district, you will be playing in the Juvenile Premier League.

“All 16 FCPPL clubs will have a juvenile side which will play in the juvenile premier league in their regions. The Juvenile sides from the FCPPL teams will automatically qualify this year but will have to start from the district juvenile league from next season so as not to blow the number of clubs in the league.”
