The Ghana FA has hailed a recent ranking of the Ghana Premier League as the third best in Africa.

The survey conducted by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics, places the Glo Premier League above the championships in Egypt, Algeria, Sudan, South Africa and Cameroon but on the same level wit the Moroccan League.

The IFFHS findings have drawn numerous reactions with some members of the public arguing it is not a true representation of the Ghanaian top flight.

But Ghana FA’s boss Kwasi Nyantakyi has welcomed the the recent statistics released earlier this week and says it will motivate the association to do even more to improve the league.

“To be honest with you, I think it is a very good rating and we welcome it,” he said.

“Ghana’s league has been on a consistent ascendancy for some time now and we aim to make it even better to perhaps be the best on the African continent and also in the World.

“Our league today is roughing shoulders with the best all around the World so we are happy about it and we hope to better it in future.”

The local league has also jumped from 66th on the world rankings to 38th with only the Tunisian and Nigerian Premier League is better off.
