The Ghana Football Association’s legal committee is yet to respond to a letter from the Commission of Inquiry asking them to return remainder of the World Cup prize money.

The fact-finding body wants the Ghana FA to pay return the US$ 3.1 million into government coffers.

Ghana earned US$ 7.1 million for appearing at the tournament in Brazil and failing to progress from the Group stage.

The Football Association repaid a US$ 4million loan it took from the Sports Ministry to pay striking players at the World Cup.

But Commission of Inquiry ordered them to pay the bulk sum to the government.

"We have received the letter from the ministry stating that we should return the remainder of the World cup monies and we have handed it over to the legal team of the federation, who are studying it and to give us a response, they are yet to do that ,so we can get back to the Ministry of Sports," Ghana FA spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie-Daara said.

The Ghana FA was hoping to use the remaining US$ 3.1 million dollars for "legacy projects."
