Ghana female Under-20 coach Bashir Hayford believes his side can overturn a 1-0 deficit in the first leg to qualify to the 2014 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup at the expense of Equatorial Guinea.

The Black Princesses went down 1-0 in Malabo last week and will need to score at least two unanswered goals to progress to a third straight appearance at the World Cup.

And Hayford, who doubles as the head coach of local side Ashantigold, is confident his side can overturn the score during the reverse fixture in Accra.

“We are very confident about our chances to qualify. We have intensified preparations since we returned from Malabo,” Hayford said

“They beat us because they were playing in front of their home fans and wanted to start off on a fine note.

“But we also have the advantage of a second leg to play for. We have been in such situations before and we managed to scale the hurdle.

“I am not too sure it’s going to be anything different. We want to go to the World Cup and the only way to do that is to beat them convincingly to qualify.”

The aggregate winner over both legs will qualify for the tournament to be hosted by Canada in August of this year
