Ghana fight back to beat Tunisia in final 2013 AFCON friendly

Published on: 13 January 2013

Ghana produced a fabulous second half display to come from two goals down to beat Tunisia 4-2 in a friendly game on Sunday.

The Black Stars found themselves two goals down by halftime with striker Issam Jemaa hitting a brace for the Carthage Eagles in the friendly game played in Abu Dhabi ahead of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars who were for most parts of the first half on the back foot and aimless upfront came into their own to launch one of the memorable comebacks in Ghana football.

First with John Boye connecting beautifully a well flighted free kick from Mubarak Wakaso to bring the scores to 2-1.

Wakaso blasted in the equalizer from a spot kick moments later after Christian Atsu was brought down in the box on one of his skillful surging runs.

Asamoah Gyan then came off the bench to edge the Black Stars into the lead with fellow substitute Albert Adomah wrapping up the memorable win with the fourth goal late in the game.

It was a game of two halfs where the substitution of Ghana coach Akwasi Appiah proved to be more effective in the end.

The Black Stars will now travel to South Africa on Wednesday haven won all two of their warm up games ahead of this month’s Nations Cup.

Ghana will open its campaign against DR Congo on January 20 before facing Mali and Niger in the subsequent Group B games.

The Black Stars hope to end Ghana’s 31-year wait for an African title this term in South Africa.

Ok, my dear student has come back for more schooling....lemme see, I think I'll start from my username. Son, you see, when you are told to provide a username, what an illiterate like you never know is that you are at liberty to use any name you want, it's not formal so you can use your nickname, I chose to use my nickname BLAKROZE. Also it's MY nickname so I can choose to spell it anyway I want, hence the BLAK for "black" and the ROZE for "rose" but I get you son, you the jungle fools don't get such privileges to choose your own nicknames because on doing so you will be beheaded(law of the jungle) so I'll go easy on you this time...Son, you claim I spelt my ROZE wrongly(by making "s" "Z") but you failed to realize that it is the same with my BLAK(I omitted "c" here)...don't worry I won't comment on that much cos you answered 1 correctly...secondly,lemme borrow from you here, " i wrote is shortand word for “what”?" The word you are struggling to write is "SHORT-HAND" mind you there is an "H" after the word "t" and before "a".... doesn't it look appealing with the "-"(hyphen) in between?(The power of english)...I think my fellow Ghanaians and I will pretend not to see the "u" in place of "you".....again I beg to chip in a sentence from you for correctional purposes..." u are an illetrate is blackroze in ur username a correct word? D... "....lemme help you out here, I'll make your mistakes capital letters(big letters) for smooth understanding to your feeble brain..."YOU are an ILLITERATE,is BLAKROZE in YOUR username a correct word? THE...".....Son, in conclusion, you are a douchebag who needs to get a life......lest I forget lazy fool, your copy and paste tactics may earn you the name "scholar" or "graduate" in your jungle, but here in Ghana it just shows how stupid you are cos my statement and @tank God's statement are two different views which needs two different answers.....ok? A word to the wise is enough...

Congratulations to Ghana for winning all your training matches! However, take note: they were practice matches and not competitive matches. South Africa will be a different ball game. Just pray that you did not peak too early. You have won the war games, but the real battles start next week. Your favourite nemesis is waiting for you!!!

KEYS TO WIN AFCON! IF THIS SQUAD WANTS TO WIN. DO THIS, AA. NO TIRI MU D3 OR COMPLACENCY, PLS 1. NO SEX, NO PORNO MAGAZINES 2. LIFT METAL. INCORPORATE WEIGHT LIFTING INTO YOUR TRAINING REGIMENT. 3. PRACTICE AT NIGHTIME. CORNER KICKS, PENALTIES, FREE KICKS. THIS IS WAT KOBE BRYANT, THE NEGRO BASEBALL PLAYERS, BARRY BONDS, MICHAEL JORDAN, ARTHUR ASHE DID. IF U CAN HIT A BASEBALL OR TENNIS BALL AT NITE, SINK FREE THROWS WITH YOUR EYES CLOSED. THEN WHAT WILL BE THE ODDS WHEN U HAVE TO HIT THE SAME BALL IN THE DAYTIME? 3. ADOPT THE 532 FORMATION. PLAY BREAK AND PASS SOCCER. 2/3 TOUCHES. TRIANGLE STYLE ATTACK LIKE BARCELONA! TRIANGULAR PASSING AND MOVING WITH THE BALL 4. PSYCHOLOGY: HANG A PICTURE OF THE 1982 SQUAD THAT WON THE TROPHY IN YOUR HOTEL ROOMS. IF U SEE THE PIC LONG ENUFF, U WILL BELIEVE U CAN WIN THE TROPHY. 5. THE BOYS HAVE TO PLAY WITH SUPREME CONFIDENCE LIKE SUPERMAN N TRUST EACH OTHER. FEAR IS AN ILLUSION.... DO THIS AND VICTORY WILL BE OURS! 6. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. 7. HAVE DESAILLY ON SPEED DIAL 8. BAN NYANTAKYI FROM GETTING CLOSE TO THE TEAM IN TRAINING CAMP. NYANTAKYI SHOULD BE IN GH. LOOKING OVER THE PREMIER LEAGUE AND MAKING SURE GH SOCCER IS ALIVE AND WELL, DEVOID OF ANY BAFOONERY. WAT IS HE DOING WITH THE TEAM IN SAUDI ARABIA? HE IS A HUGE DISTRACTION 9. FYI: NO COORDINATED DANCES UNTIL GH REACHES THE FINAL, PLS. WE MEAN BUSINE$$. 10.DEREK BOATENG SHOULD STOP HIS STUPID BACK PASSES. WE PLAY TO SCORE 11.LET YOUR OFFENSE BE YOUR DEFENSE! LET YOUR OFFENSE BE YOUR DEFENSE! LET YOUR OFFENSE BE YOUR DEFENSE! THIS IS YOUR JOB DEREK BOATENG A. BREAK/STOP ATTACKING ADVANCES OF OPPONENTS INTO THE GH HALF B. RELEASE THE BALL TO THE WINGERS OR THE $TRIKERS AND REST. I REPEAT, NO BACK PASSES! RECAP: SIMPLICITY AND SPEED WINS. TRUST ME...!!! BREAK AND PASS SOCCER, 2/3 TOUCHES PER PLAYER. TRIANGLE OFFENSE/ATTACK I BELIEVE IN MY ANCESTORS

For the first time in many years a coach tries to instill discipline and enforce unity in the team and interestingly you find people lambasting and vilifying the coach for taking a decision that would do the nation good.AA go on with your work. if you are the one to deliver the ultimate, no man can stop you. I am tempted to believe the current crop of players want to prove a point that it is team work and not individual brilliance that can bring results.

We don't care whether Jordan scored 1000 goals, that is not mine concern. AA did what will help the team, sometimes its must be like that for your team to win or achieve something. Example is what France did in 1998 world cup, They dropped their two most influential players in the likes of David Ginola and Eric Cantona and yet still they won the tournament because of the unity and peace in their team.
