Ghana fight-back to draw with Gambia at AYC

Ghana are left with faint hopes of qualifying to the semi-final of the African Youth Championship after rallying to draw 1-1 with ten-man Gambia on Thursday.

Gambia took the lead in the 23rd minute through Boubacar Jammeh who unleashed a powerful flyer inside the box.

But the goalscorer was flashed the red card for a double footed challenge on Ghana right-back Richmond Nketiah just before the half-time whistle.

Ghana piled pressure in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net as they missed some scoring chances and hit the woodwork twice.

Italy-based striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom has levelled for the defending champions on the 80th minute mark.

The Genoa player's blistering header bounced on the turf at the near post to beat the Gambia goalkeeper.

Ghana have one point and must beat leaders Cameroon on Saturday to qualify for the last four of the competition and a 2011 Fifa Under-20 World Cup qualification ticket.
