Ghana football authorities and coach Avram Grant are keen on convincing talented young striker Joe Dodoo to snub England and commit his international future to the Black Stars.

The 20-year-old, who plays for English Premier League side Leicester City, has raised eyebrows over his recent performances even though he has just been promoted to the senior side of the club.

Dodoo scored three goals in his debut for Leicester City senior team when they defeated Bury in the Capital One Cup, after being drafted into Claudio Ranieri's squad thanks to his performances for the second team.

Ghana coach Avram Grant has alerted the Ghana FA over the availability of Doodoo who has already played for England U18s which means he must switch nationality to be able to play for his country of birth.

The GFA now wants to persuade the Leicester striker to pledge his future to the Black Stars ahead of the Three Lions.

Dodoo's performances have alerted Ghana with the Black Stars keen to bring him in for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Dodoo was born in Kumasi, Ghana but his grandmother brought him to England in search of a better life when he was just eight years old.

His family settled in Nottingham where he took up football and was soon spotted by Leicester scouts, joining their academy at 13.

Dodoo is proud of his Ghanaian heritage, yet considers himself English and is keen to commit to England.

But that won't stop the Africans who would like him to link up with other Premier League players such as club mate Jeff Schlupp and the likes of Swansea's Andre Ayew and his brother Jordan at Aston Villa.

Dodoo is expected to be part of Leicester's squad to face Villa on Sunday.
