Ghana football on time bomb - Polo

Ex national star Mohammed Polo has labelled the current state of Ghana football as sitting on a 'time bomb'.

The Black Stars legend was responding to questions related to the abysmal performance of the Ghana team at the ongoing CHAN tournament in Sudan.

Ghana has lost two straight games so far to South Africa and Zimbabwe respectively and even though the Black Stars still have a mathematical chance of qualification, it'll certainly need a miracle to pull it off.

"What is currently happening to the team in Sudan are signs of the gradual rot in Ghana football," Polo said.

"People look at our current ranking in Africa (1st) and the World (15th) and think all is well with Ghana football but a critical look will tell you otherwise."

On whether the poor performance of the team and for that matter the coach has any effect on the case of local coaches, Polo said: "Yes it does. If he is doing well with the team at the tournament, i am sure he and other coaches would be claiming credit and therefore should also be shouldering the blame."
