Ghana forward Andre Ayew wants to put the distraction of playing at the 2014 World Cup aside to focus on helping Olympique Marseille finish well in Ligue 1.

Marseille have fallen off the pace in their pursuit to secure Champions League football next season.

Les Phoceens lost 2-0 to runnerway Ligue 1 PSG over the weekend as their talismanic forward Ayew feels his way back from a four-month injury layoff.

But the Ghana international doesn’t want to be distracted by the prospect of playing at his second World Cup finals in Brazil as he looks to help his club finish strongly in the French top flight.

"Brazil is the country of football. There will be a whole crowd of Brazilians behind them. I think it will be a good World Cup, logically,” he told RMC.

“As I say, I put it aside. I want to finish well with Marseille and after I'll have time for the World Cup.”

Ayew is currently with the Ghana national team for their international friendly match against Montenegro on Wednesday.

The Black Stars are drawn in Group G of the World Cup where they will be facing Germany, Portugal and USA.
