Ghana forward Andre Ayew received a whooping €8m as his signing-on fee in his move to Swansea.

The 25-year-old joined the English club last week as a free agent after running down his contract at Olympique Marseille.

Ayew’s move to Swansea came as a big surprise to many especially in the face of reported interest from top European clubs including Inter Milan and Dortmund.

The move to Swansea, many believe was heavily influenced by the financial gains the Ghana international stood to gain.

Aside his reported €3.5m a year wages to be made, Ayew also pocketed a whooping €8m as his signing-on fee according to L’Equipe.

The report leaves Marseille gnashing as they could have recouped at least half of that amount had they sold the Ghanaian in January as against losing him for free this summer.
