Ghana's Jordan Ayew elbowing West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew was sent off for viciously elbowing West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell during Aston Villa's 2-0 loss against West Ham United at the Upton Park in the English Premier League on Tuesday night.

Referee Jonathan Moss sent off the 24-year-old in the 17th minute for elbowing West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell during an off-the-ball incident.

Villa were counting on the five-goal striker to steer them against the Hammers but his unreasonable elbowing of the Cresswell in the opening minutes of the game costed the Villains diamonds as they succumbed to defeat.

Villa fans expressed their gull about Ayew's behaviour on the pitch via Twitter and have fingered him for contributing to their loss on the night.

Ayew's red card has been condemned by EPL followers on Twitter and described as needless.

He will miss both of Villa's next games in the Premier League against Norwich City and Liverpool.

Villa would find out whether the Premier League's disciplinary body will hand further sanctions against the former Marseille star.
