Ghana further delays decision on Stevanovic

Ghana's Football Association (GFA) will meet Black Stars coach Goran Stevanovic next week before making the decision on his future public.

The decision on the future of Stevanovic has been delayed for the second time following a meeting of the federation's highest decision making body, the executive committee.

The GFA had been expected to announce whether the Serb would continue his post on Wednesday but called for an additional meeting on Thursday to further deliberate on the decision.

The GFA will now meet the Serbian next week before making annoucing the decision.

"The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has deferred the final decision on the future of Black Stars coach Goran Stevanovic until next week," a Ghana FA statement read.

"This follows a meeting of the executive committee on Thursday, 8th March 2012 where the future of the coach was discussed following consultations with stakeholders.

"The GFA will meet with Stevanovic next week and the final decision will be announced subsequently."

The coach has come under intense pressure since his side failed to win the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

Heavily fancied before the tournament, the Black Stars Ghana lost 1-0 to eventual champions Zambia in the Nations Cup semi-final - before being beaten by Mali in the third-place play-off match.

On 22 February, the GFA met to analyse the team's performance in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon - saying afterwards that it would study the details of Stevanovic's contract before deciding whether to keep him or let him go.

The 45-year-old's current deal expires in January 2013, the same month as next year's Nations Cup will be held.
