Ghana have been handed a massive boost for their upcoming 2015 AFCON campaign as defender Jonathan Mensah has returned to training for Evian Thonon Gaillard in the French Ligue 1.

Mensah, 24, trained on Friday with the Evian first team squad for the first time since mid-November due to an injury he suffered while Evian were preparing for their game with Guingamp.

He confirmed his return on Twitter: "So happy to be back with the team for our @Ligue1 game on Sunday. Hoping to end the year with a win."

The former AshantiGold defender suffered a hamstring injury then but has now returned to full fitness and will be in the Evian squad to face Saint-Étienne at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

While his return from injury comes as good news for Evian who are seeking to halt their two-game winless run, Ghana will also welcome the news of his return as the 2015 AFCON is drawing closer.
