Ghana goalie Adjei won't blow second chance

Ghana goalkeeper Sammy Adjei has promised to work his socks off for a permanent national team place after earning a call-up for the first time in two-years.

The 29-year-old quit the national team after the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations because of persistently playing second fiddle to Richard Kingson.

Adjei refused to train with Kingson in pre-match warm-ups and training, verbally abused him and threatened to attack the first-choice shot stopper.

"I am just happy to get my chance again," he told KickOffGhana.com. "Now I just need to get in, work hard and see what happens."

The Ghana bench has been struggling to find a relaible gloves man to replace Blackpool goalkeeper Richard Kingson who has had no serious competition in the last two years.

Adjei is named in Ghana's 19-man squad for the friendly against Saudi Arabia on 17 November in Dubai.
