Ghana goalkeeper Amamoo turns to coaching kids in Sweden

Ghana international William Amamoo is now in Sweden to train young goalkeepers until the end of summer despite moves by clubs to sign him for hefty deals. The lanky goalkeeper, who is celebrating his 26th birthday today, is on contract with Swedish second division side Enköpings to groom all their last line of defence to become professionals.

Amamoo, who currently plays for Israeli-based club Hapoel Petah Tikva, is on a four-month leave to see to his newborn baby boy and will take advantage of the new move to stay in shape. He was grateful to Siggi Johnsson, former Djurgarden coach for linking him with the Enkopings job.

“I will take charge of all the Enkopings Football Club goalkeepers to help them till the summer to be as good as I have been in Sweden,” the Black Panther disclosed to Goal.com.

The goal tender revealed he will also be involved in another project organized by renowned former Swedish national goalkeeper Thomas Ravelli between June and August to keep goalkeepers in shape.

“This means I will be helping young up and coming goalkeepers in the North of Stockholm to develop their talent. I have to make this sacrifice for my kids and the less fortunate in society.

“I have been helping society for all these years with finance, but this is the time to also devote myself for the needy.

I have said no to an Azerbaijan club ready to pay 200,000 Euros a year and a Malta club Floriana FC just to be able to dedicate the three months left to the next transfer window,” the three-time best goalkeeper stated.
