Ghana goalkeeper Daniel Agyei has lashed at his teammates at Free State Stars for their lack of effort in helping the side escape relegation.

The 24-year-old suffered a 2-1 defeat on his return to first team action to Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday night.

Agyei had been out for the past three weeks recovering from a hernia operation.

Ea Lla Koto are currently just a point above the drop zone with just eight matches left.

But the Black Stars goalkeeper has slammed his teammates’ lack of effort in the side’s struggle to beat the drop.

“The football here is a bit different. The locals [players] here just don’t care,”

“They are comfortable playing at home and therefore are not challenged to fight and improve themselves.

“And that is why we concede a lot of goals because basically the defenders just don’t put in the extra effort.”

Free State Stars will be hoping to get more points on the board when they host Orlando Pirates in their next premiership match.
