Free State Stars’ international goalkeeper Daniel Agyei has returned to training after a hernia operation and could be available in the next matches for the relegation-threatened side.

Agyei had been the first choice for the club until his injury but since the return to action after the holiday break, Stars have had the veteran Tsepo Motsoeneng in goal.

Agyei started 14 of Stars’ 19 league games played to date this season with the 35-year-old Motsoeneng playing in four and Ayanda Mtshali one.

The injury has meant Agyei lost his place in Ghana’s squad for their recent World Cup warm-up match against Montenegro.

But a quick return to action could put Agyei into prime position as Ghana also dropped first-choice Fatau Dauda, because he is getting no game time at Orlando Pirates.
