Goalkeeper Richard Kingson remains optimistic of his chances of making the Ghana squad for the 2014 World Cup despite his lack of international call ups for recent games.

The experienced goalkeeper has not been called up for Black Stars duty since the first leg World Cup playoff win over Egypt back in October.

Kingson has however hit a rich vein of form, keeping three consecutive clean sheets for Balikesirspor – resulting to being voted into the team of the week in the Turkish second tier league.

The former Birmingham City, Wigan and Blackpool goalkeeper says he is ever ready to return to national team duty once the opportunity avails itself.

“If the whole league has been able to vote me as the best goalkeeper for a period then it shows that I am doing well,” he told Montie FM.

“I always say that I live to play, I don’t play to live so I am ever ready for any challenge.”

Kingson has played 90 times for the Black Stars spanning an almost two decade period.
