Captain Asamoah Gyan says the Black Stars will be going into the Mali game with the absolute intention of winning.

Ghana threw away a two goal lead to draw 2-2 with DR Congo in the opening Group B fixture of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

The four-time African champions are now red-faced to secure their first win of the campaign to resurrect their title ambitions in South Africa.

And Gyan who is tasked with leading the Ghana team to ending a 31-year wait for an African title says the mentality going into the game against Mali on Thursday is to win.

“We have to go with the mentality of winning because the more you win, the more you qualify,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“I would urge Ghanaians to keep calm, keep on praying for the Black Stars.

‘They should have confidence in the team because this is just the first game, we have got two more games to go.

“It will depend on the players, now everything depends on the team and we will make sure we demonstrate it and make sure we qualify from the group.”

Ghana with one point are now third in Group B behind Mali and DR Congo ahead of the second round of group games.
