Ghana international Harrison Afful hails Jordan Opoku as instrumental in career success

Ghana international Harrison Afful has credited Asante Kotoko midfielder Jordan Opoku as one of the key players in his career success.

Afful, is just coming off a glittering six seasons with Tunisian giants Esperance. The former Asante Kotoko man helped the Bold and Red side with a CAF Champions league trophy in 2011 and also won four league titles in Tunisia.

Before that Afful also won the Ghanaian league title with Asante Kotoko. He says Jordan Opoku has been instrumental in his rise to the top.

“I remember one day when I had a call from Jordan Opoku and he asked if I would love to play for Kotoko,’” Afful told Citi FM

“My first expressions were that brother that is a big club you are talking about more over I had never played in the top flight league before.

“All he said was that I am going to help you get there and that was it.”

At the national level Afful has also been to five Africa cup of nation’s competitions and has been a losing finalist on two occasion 2010 and 2015 he was also a member of Ghana’s world cup team in Brazil.
