Ghana legend Polo backs Jordan Ayew's exclusion from Ghana AFCON squad

Ghana legend Mohammed Polo has backed Kwesi Appiah’s decision to drop Jordan Ayew for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The shock exclusion of the 20-year-old has been criticized in some quarters with critics arguing he’s done enough to merit a place in the team.

Ayew has been impressive for Marseile this season where he was voted their best Player for the month of November.

But he was shockingly overlooked by the Ghana trainer prompting widespread condemnation.

But the ‘dribbling magician’ has backed the decision to leave out the talented striker.

“Kwesi Appiah has shown that he knows what he’s about. I am not at all surprised by Jordan’s exclusion,” Polo told Accra-based Happy FM

“He has worked with most of the players and he knows what they can do.

“I don’t think it would be fair to start criticizing the squad by saying who should have been in and who should have been out.

“But I totally agree with his decision to leave him out. It boils down to team work and no individual person.”
