Ghana line-up AFCON warm-up against Cape Verde in Portugal

Published on: 05 November 2012

Ghana's national team, the Black Stars, will play Cape Verde in an international friendly match later this month.

The match will be played in the Portuguese capital Lisbon on Tuesday, 13 November.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations warm-up will be played at the University of Lisbon Sports Stadium.

"We have arranged a friendly against Cape Verde as part of our intensive preparations for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations," Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantaky told Ghanafa.org.

"Cape Verde showed the strength of their side by edging past giants Cameroon to qualify for the Nations Cup and this shows that they are a tough side.

"In many ways they are similar to our group opponents at the Africa Cup of Nations and we are happy that they have agreed to play us.

"We want to leave no stone unturned with adequate preparation for Africa's flagship football event to ensure success for the Black Stars."

Both countries have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations to be played in South Africa in January next year.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group B to play DR Congo, Mali and Niger.

BY now the GFA should have already lined up at least 3 extra friendlies after this cape verde game. we are not serios at all. And I think quincy should be tried in a friendly so that we see if he still got it.

GHANA IS FIGHTING TO QUALIFY FOR THE WORLD CUP BECAUSE THE TEAM STANDARD HAS DECLINED. MR. APPIAH IS NOT A QUALITY COACH. DO YOU THINK ANY AFRICAN/EUROPEAN COUNTRY WILL HIRE HIM AS A COACH; WHY GHANA? BECAUSE OF CORRUPTION AND TRIBALISM. WHICH LOCAL TEAM DID HE SUCCESSFULLY COACH IN GHANA? THESE PEOPLE/GFA DON'T CARE ABOUT THE WORLD STANDING OF THE BLACK STARS ONLY ABOUT THEIR POCKETS. THE SAME ABOUT THE WHOLE COUNTRY POOR ROADS, SANITATION, SCHOOLS, HEALTHCARE MEANWHILE THE LEADERS ARE MAKIKNG ALOT OF MONEY.

The caption reads "WARN" so I was wondering why would we warn Cape Verde until I read the story.
