Ghana will play Montenegro in an international friendly in March to boost the Black Stars preparation for the World Cup in Brazil, can exclusively reveal.

The match will be played on 5 March in Podgorica, the Montenegro FA has told Ghana's leading football news outfit,

The game will be played at the City Stadium in Podgorica.

According to the Montenegro FA, the agreement to play the match in the European country was reached on Friday evening as the Black Stars seek to prepare against European sides before the World Cup.

It will be the last friendly match for Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah before he names his squad for the 2014 World Cup.

It will also be the Black Stars first game of the year and the final chance for players to impress the coach before he names his team for the competition in Brazil in June.

The match against Montenegro seems to put to rest the proposed game against Colombia on the same day after the South Americans claimed last week that they will face the Ghanaians on the same day.

Ghana will face European countries Germany and Portugal in Group G at the World Cup with the United States as the last team in the group.

Maybe he is thinking of using this match to test out some of the players. Im hoping he atleast us Kawarsey in this match, and decide for himself if he is good enough.

The coach and the technical staff know exactly what they are doing. So let's give them the benefit of the doubt.

Why such a low profile Friendly considering the teams we've been paired against, when the likes of Ivory coast and nigeria are playing big names!!

this is not the worst matchup. bear in mind, montenegro led their group for a majority of the qualifiers. they folder at the end. anyone coming here to complain must not forget that prior to the world cup, each country will play multiple friendlies. so keep calm. i sense a friendly against a south american side before the sundial will happen soon...

This feels like due to a lack of preparation. they have got whoever they can get. The teams we have in our group mean that our friendlies have to be very good e,g colombia.

Anyone who thinks Montenegro is an easy team but we need to play teams like Holland.

Well said man. It appears the purpose is not to test our strength but to boost our confidence. That is why a loss will be terrible and not an option. But let's wait for gfa confirmation. We need other strong matches to test our defenders

January 19, 2014 02:39 pm match cannot be used to select players or get the best squad~ we all know those who are good and those who are not...and most importantly, DAUDA should not be in post...simple! we see all our players play day in and day need to shine a torch in the face of someone u know in the day during the night! we know our players already, and some folks should not be either starting or be in the team at all...!! Beats me!

You got to be motherfucking kidding me, this better be a match to boost the players confidence because this is not to test our strength, Oh Ghana
