Ghana midfielder Bennard Kumordzi scored in KRC Genk's first pre-season game ahead of the new season as they posted a 6-0 win over second division side Maaseik Maaseik on Saturday afternoon.

The lanky midfielder, 28, set up a goal in the first department before getting his name on the score-sheet scoring the fifth goal for Mario Been's men in the 70th minute.

Kumordzi applied a superb technique to nod home a Joseph-Monrose incisive cross from the left to register his side's fifth goal of the afternoon.

Genk will continue their pre-season games next week and Kumordzi is expected to be fully involved as he is tipped to lead the club's domestic and Europa League campaign in the upcoming season.

He played a crucial role for Genk's campaign last season scoring in the Cup final.
