Ghana international midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah finally returned to the Juventus squad for a Serie A game in five months but he was unused as the Old Ladies succumbed to a 2-1 loss against Napoli on Saturday.

The 26-year-old's last game for the Bianconeris came in May of last season and has been out with a troubling leg injury.

But after playing 60 minutes in a friendly game manager Massimiliano Allegri included him in his squad for the first time this season but he was unused as he warmed the bench for the entire period of the game.

Lorenzo Insigne and Gonzalo Higuain scored for the Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo before Mario Lemina halved the scoring for the Old Ladies.

For Juve, champions for the past four seasons, it was a third defeat in six league matches, as many as in the whole of their last campaign. They are already 10 points behind leaders Inter Milan, who host Fiorentina on Sunday.

Asamoah's return to action will be welcoming news for Ghana coach Avram Grant who has been without the workaholic midfielder and was forced to leave him out of his AFCON 2015 squad due to the injury.

The former Liberty Professionals star has been left out of the Juventus squad for the Uefa Champions League this season.
