Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso will arrive in Glasgow today to complete his move to Scottish giants Celtic after passing a medical, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.
The 24-year-old will sign a one-year loan deal with Celtic as his work permit problems will also be sorted with a special appeal at the Home Office.
Wakaso underwent the medical in the French capital of Paris on Monday paving the way for the Ghanaian to complete the long-awaited switch to the giants.
That is because the Ghanaian had already agreed his personal terms with Celtic while awaiting the paperwork for him to seal with switch from Russian side Rubin Kazan.
With the green light that he will secure a work permit, Wakaso completed the medical in Paris on Monday evening before his trip to Glasgow to seal the deal.
He will be available to watch his new team-mates in their Champions League clash with Slovenian side Maribor in the second-leg qualifier on Tuesday evening.
But the Ghanaian won't play in the match as he could not have trained with the side before the second leg clash in Celtic after their 1-1 first leg draw away from home.
Wakaso could play his first match for Celtic in their Premier League match against Dundee on Sunday if all goes well when he arrives in Glasgow on Tuesday.
Things finally started to pick up pace on Monday regarding the Ghanaian move to Scotland after last week's move failed because of paperwork.
Celtic had previously tried to get the player signed in time for UEFA’s cut off last week for the Champions League play off game with Maribor but a work permit held that up.
Celtic manager Ronny Deila was keen on completing the signing of the Russia-based player before last week's match in Slovenia.
That is because Wakaso has not played 70% of Black Stars matches in the past two years which means he does not qualify for an automatic work permit to play in the United Kingdom.
But Celtic has put together a team of lawyers to the Home Office this week to ensure that Wakaso gets the permit under a special dispensation.
Mubarak has been in Russia’s top flight since last summer after spending six years in Spain with Elche, Villareal and Espanyol.
Now the player, who has been capped 19 times for Ghana, is poised to spend the rest of the season at Celtic Park on loan.
