Wakaso's deal to Saudi Arabia fails to materialise

Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso's big-money move Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad has collapsed after two agents claiming to represent the player clashed over the deal.

The fight between the agents has forced the Saudi Arabian to decide against signing the Russia-based midfielder fearing that this could lead to complications.

This means the Ghanaian midfielder has failed to land the life-changing 2.5m Euros per year deal.

Wakaso passed a medical with the club on Monday awaiting for the deal to be sealed before the fight between new agent Eduardo and long-standing agent Miguel Garcias Hita emerged.

Hita, who has been working with Wakaso for about three years now, was threatening to report the deal to FIFA claiming Eduardo who is brokering the Saudi deal has no right to represent the player.

Al Ittihad fearing that this could lead to possible fines and suspension by FIFA have decided not to sign Wakaso who is expected to return to his Russian club Rubin Kazan, says Al Ittihad African representative Mohammed Benyamin.

"We have now decided to cancel the Mubarak deal because the player and a new agent wanted to sign the deal behind his real agent and that could land Ittihad and the player in serious trouble," Benyamin said.

The 25-year-old passed his medical tests in Milan on Monday by Bupa Arabia after he arrived there on Sunday to join the pre-season camp.

Wakaso spent last season on-loan to Scottish giants, Celtic but failed to impress his coach Ronny Deila as he was so often kept out of his starting eleven.

He was keen on joining compatriot Sulley Muntari at Al Ittihad.

Wakaso has 31 appearances with the Black Stars and scored 9 goals.

He was a key-player in their 2015 Orange AFCON campaign in Equatorial Guinea where they were able to reach the final before losing to Cote d’Ivoire on penalties.
