Ghana coach Akwasi Appiah rates his team’s performance at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations at a 70 percent.

The Black Stars were ruthless in their 3-0 win over Niger in the final Group B game on Monday.

Goals from Asamoah Gyan, Christian Atsu and John Boye aside securing the emphatic win saw Ghana progress to the quarter finals as group winners.

The team will now face Cape Verde in the first game of the knockout round on Saturday in Port Elizabeth.

Many believe the Black Stars are now beginning to show signs of their title credentials in South Africa but coach Appiah says the team is yet to realize its full potential and that the team’s performance is at a 70 percent.

“Yesterday personally it is difficult for me to choose the defence, midfield or attack (on what excited him most about the win over Niger),” he said at the Black Stars post-match press conference on Tuesday morning.

“Personally I think tactically we attacked well and defended well as well.

“I won’t say I was 100 percent happy because there were some petty things I wasn’t happy about which I have to deal with.

“But saying that, overall performance I think the team did well. I think the players are getting to know the competition now and they are developing stage by stage.

“I will give them 70 percent, I believe they can do better than what they did yesterday.”
