Ghana on the verge of IOC sack

Published on: 06 January 2011

Ghana stands the risk of being banned from all IOC related activities - meaning the national U-23 team, Black Meteors would not have the chance to represent Ghana at the 2012 Olympics in London.

The Ghana sports authorities have failed to pass a Sports Bill which was one of the requirements of an agreed road-map in helping solve the current impasse at the GOC.

As a result, the IOC has written to inform Ghana of the consequences of her actions.

"We wish to inform you that your conduct following the misunderstanding in your congress would be reported to the next IOC executive board meeting which will take place on the 12-13 January,2011 for appropriate measures and decisions vis-a-vie the Ghana Olympic Committee in accordance with the Olympic Charter, Please accept the assurances of our highest consideration" portions of the correspondence read.

It has been over a year now since the GOC were plunged in turmoil leading to two separate camps claiming legitimacy over the body.
