Ghana Premier League Match Report: Asante Kotoko 0-1 New Edubiase- Prince Antwi's strike frustrates Porcupines in Kumasi
New Edubiase United stunned Kotoko in Kumasi

New Edubiase United frustrated Asante Kotoko's revival under Michael Osei after beating the Porcupine Warriors 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in the Ghana Premier League on Saturday.

The 18:00 kick-off saw over 35,000 fans troop the Baba Yara to watch Kotoko take on the side that beat them last season at the venue yet they suffered another painful defeat.

Prince Antwi drew first blood for the visitors when he scored against the round of play to stun the home fans in the 21st minute. Antwi picked the pocket of Ahmed Adams and took his time to bury the ball into Ernest Sowah's net.

But the highlight of the first-half was Dauda Mohammed's howler moments after United had taken the lead. The Ghana U20 attacker was presented with a glorious chance to peck the scoring for Michael Osei's side but he unbelievably ballooned the ball from inside the box.

Edubiase had calmed their nerves and displayed a well-composed game against a nervous-looking Kotoko side. Frank Sarfo-Gyamfi had a couple of goal-bound efforts stopped by Edubiase keeper Benjamin Mensah. The former Maritzburg United winger saw his ferocious free-kick fist away by Mensah but the inviting ball was sent wide by Amos Frimpong.

Anthony Commey gagged the spaces in the Edubiase midfielder relied on long ball supplies. While the Movers had employed the tactics to spread the game at their own whims and caprices, Kotoko remained desperate to level thing and Michael Osei withdrew Sarfo-Gyamfi and his place was taken by Bennett Ofori.

But Kotoko's increased goal-mouth were all handled by goalkeeper Mensah who stood tall on the night. Kwame Boateng was introduced late on but his inclusion in the Porcupine Warriors attacker could not alter the story as Edubiase contained them.

It was Edubiase who almost increased their tally in the stoppage-time when Prince Antwi scrolled through three Kotoko defenders and was heading for goal when Ernest Sowah emerged out of his box to stop him.

Kotoko's pressure play could not yield the results before the game petered out.
