Ghana Premier League Ranking: Hasaacas win Club of the Week
Sekondi Hasaacas

There were interesting results recorded after Week five of the Ghana premier league with Heart of Lions picking a point from the Sunyani Coronation park, Liberty held Hearts of Oak in a 1-1 draw as Berekum Chelsea made sure Great Olympics’ poor start to the league never ends.

However, this week it was Sekondi Hasaacas coached by Yusif Basigi that picked the Ghana Premier League Club of the Week award as they topped the rankings with 375 points for defeating Aduana Stars who led the GPL table before macth-day 4.

Hasaacas opponents from the Brong Ahafo region were the strongest side going into the Day 5 matches as their opposition strenght (O.S) stood at 1.875 and that means a win over them largely increased the ranking points of the giants of the west.

Not only did Hasaacas beat Aduana 2-0 but they prevented the Ogya boys from scoring too as explosive forward Richard Ahin and his colleagues were neutralized.

Goals from big performers Amos Korankye and Frederick Quayson were more than enough to defeat Kwabena Ameyaw’s side and that has enhanced their ranking points to be named best performed club of Week  and it is no wonder as Hasaacas are placed at a comfortable 2nd position on the main GPL standings.

West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) Â emerged second best performed Club of the Week after Hasaacas as Medeama, fresh from a remarkable victory over Ashgold in Week 4 were beaten by John Kila’s WAFA by a loan goal at Sogakope.

NOTE:The Club of the Week rankings should not be confused with the main GPL standings:

Interestingly, Ashgold might have beaten Bechem United to go on top of the GPL standings with 10 points  but in this special weekly rankings, once won  by Ashgold, they came 3rd as they played and beat a much weaker opponent than Hasaacas did.

The miners defeated Bechem United with an O.S of 1.125, placed 7th before the Week 5 games whereas Hasaacas beat Aduana stars, the league leaders before Day 5 matches.

Hearts of Oak not-so-good season so far has reflected on the rankings with Herbet Addo’s team picking 50 ranking points for drawing Liberty.
