Ghana President John Mahama has urged the Black Stars to go all out to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The President was speaking at a brief ceremony at the Castle where the team had gone to receive it’s parting blessings ahead of their trip to Abu Dhabi for their pre-Nations Cup camp.

Ghana has not won the African cup in 31-years – getting as close to the grand finale on two occasions within this period.

The team is however determined to end the years of hurt and anguish by annexing the title in South Africa.

President Mahama in speaking on behalf of the nation has told the Black Stars not to underrate any opposition in their quest to win the 2013 AFCON.

“We shouldn’t take anybody for granted, any nation we meet we must play at our best in order that we are able to continue (in the competition),” he said.

“I am sure that with God on our side, we will win the cup and bring it back.

“And I wish to assure the stars that if that happen, this nation will show its appreciation to them in a special way.

“And so I want you (Black Stars) to feel encouraged, go do your best, die for your nation and I am sure that God will reward us with the cup.”

The Black Stars will leave Accra on Friday for their 11-day camp in the UAE capital.

The team is expected to arrive in South Africa on January 16 – four days ahead of their group opener against DR Congo.

Ghana will also face Mali and Niger in subsequent group games in South Africa.
