Ghana junior international Richmond Boakye Yiadom's opener could not help Serie B side Sassuolo advance in the Coppa Italia.

The 18-year-old dreadful striker turned home a free-kick in the 17th minute for the home team against Verona.

It was his second goal in the competition after netting the match winner against Juve Stadia last week in the previous qualifying round.

Boakye-Yiadom joined the club this summer from Genoa for more playing time and has already won the team over with his impressive conversion rate.

His strike was cancelled out by Berettoni for the visitors on 29 minutes before Sassuolo went ahead again five minutes later.

D'Allessandro pulled even for Verona in the 64th minute but Laribi scored Sassuolo's third which drew another response from Ferrari on the 93rd minute mark.

Sassuolo lost 4-2 on penalties and Verona progressed to the fourth round where they will play either Parma or Grosseto.
