Ghana finished top of Group B of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday night to seal a quarter-final showdown with Cape Verde.

The Black Stars' 3-0 victory over the Menas sealed their place on top of the group with seven points and a place in the last eight of the competition in South Africa.

Domestic media in Ghana were calling for Gyan to be dropped after a slow start to the tournament, but the Black Stars captain opened the scoring within five minutes.

The Al Ain forward found Christian Atsu to double Ghana’s lead and immediately after the interval his header was parried by keeper Daouda Kassaly, allowing John Boye to tap-in.

The win means the Black Stars will face the second-placed team in Group A Cape Verde on Saturday in Port Elizabeth.

Ghana will have the advantage against Cape Verde as they already feel settled in Ocean City.

The Black Stars last met Cape Verde in a friendly in Portugal in just two months ago and the Ghanaians triumphed 1-0 thanks to a Mubarak Wakaso goal.
