Ghana star Andre Ayew set to leave Marseille after clashing with coach - Arsenal, Liverpool on alert
Honed by the club, Andre Ayew is very attached Marsielle. But he could continue his career abroad, especially in England.

Ghana star Andre Ayew is set to leave French giants Marseille after clashing with coach Elie Baup over his desire to play as a playmaker behind the strikers rather that out on the wing.

Ayew, who has been linked with Premier League sides Liverpool and Arsenal this summer, is seriously considering leaving the club after the coach refused to guarantee him a place behind the strikers where he could score more goals, GHANAsoccernet.com insiders have confirmed.

Widespread media reports in France suggest the son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele was promised the playmaker position at the end of last season when he held clear-the-air talks with Marseille hierarchy over his future at the club.

However, this has not materialized in the club's pre-season matches as the Ghanaian has been played only on the wings which denies him the chances to score goals and show his creativity.

Baup insists no such agreement was reached and he would not be indulging the player's positional preference in the upcoming Ligue 1 campaign.

"Who has promised to change our structure? Certainly not me," Baup said when asked about the reported agreement to play Dede as a playmaker.

"The personal ambitions of a player will prevail over the team's ambitions. It is not even worth thinking about!," the coach blasted.

Baup's comments suggests that Ayew's somewhat tumultuous relationship with Marseille may be set to continue  and could encourage Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal to keep tabs on the Ghana international as the season unfolds.

Marseille reportedly turned down a £5m bid from Arsenal for Ayew back in 2010, while Manchester United may well have moved on following the arrival of David Moyes.

Last month Ayew expressed his hope that Liverpool would be the club to bring him to the Premier League.

Ayew scored ten goals in 39 appearances for Marseille last season.
