Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has started pre-season training with Juventus, more than two weeks before the group, GHANAsoccernet.com reveals.

The 26-year-old is preparing to be at the top of his game before the start of the new season.

The Juventus squad is expected to start pre-season for the new campaign on July 16, but the Ghana international has already hit the ground running.

With the versatile African, the Italian champions defense was often found in emergency last term and his full recovery will offer manager Massimiliano Allegri with alternatives.

Asamoah only returned to the Juventus set-up set-up in the closing stages of the season after a career-threatening injury which forced him out since December last year.

The Italian champions are keen to ensure the versatile player is in good physical condition ahead of the start of the new season which has prompted the decision to have him kick-start his pre-season in time before the group.

And he has now started the exercise, 16 clear days before the group, all in a bid to cement his recovery programme.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri wants the absolute reliability of the Arsenal target ahead of another tight campaign next season.

Asamoah endured a difficult five months after being sidelined with a serious knee injury which ruled him out of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana.
