Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan scored his 16th league goal in the UAE top flight to help Al Ain to a 3-0 win over Al Wasl on Friday.

The Black Stars captain opened the scoring in the 13th minute to put the Boss on their way to the comfortable win before their home fans at the Tahnoun Bin Mohamed Stadium.

Gyan’s opener stretched his lead on top of the goalscorer’s chart by five with closest contender Edgar Silva on 11 goals.

Mohanad Salem and Alex Brosque complemented the efforts of the Ghana international with strikes in the 41st and 72nd minutes respectively.

The vital win sees Al Ain climb to sixth in the UAE top flight but with a massive 12 points to make on leaders Al Ahli in the Arabian Gulf League.

Gyan’s form however remains intact despite the inconsistent form of his club in this season’s championships.
